Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive sweating in the areas of the armpits, palms, soles of the feet, etc regardless of the weather or a person’s level of activity. People suffering with hyperhidrosis usually complain of intense, embarrassing wetness under their arms that stains their clothing and keeps them from participating in activities that may make draw attention to the visible “wet rings” in the armpit area. Those with hyperhidrosis presenting itself in the sweating of the palms have a hard time holding a pen, pencil or toothbrush. Hyperhidrosis can become a devastating and debilitating condition as it causes lifestyle and relationship changes and intimacy struggles for the sufferer. It generally effects males and females equally and can be caused by a neurologic, metabolic or systemic problem.

Treatments:

  • Treatment usually begins with the use of a clinical strength, over the counter antiperspirant, such as CERTAIN DRI.
  • Prescription antiperspirants such as DRYSOL.
  • Medication
  • Iontophoresis therapy to alter the ionic charge of the skin.
  • Botox
  • Sympathectomy Surgery that severs nerve fibers causing the sweating
