Skin Tightening

Skin tightening is one of the most sought after cosmetic procedures today. Skin tightening can be done with systems that employ radio frequency, Near InfraRed Technology, Ultrasound, as well as a combination of these modalities. Skin tightening is effective on the fae as well as the body, and is capable of reducing the signs of sagging skin, laxity and excess fat that we strive to get rid of or improve on. Facial skin tightening can take years off the neck and face, by tightening areas that are loose, sagging or droopy, as in the jowls, chin, neck, and brow areas. The fullness, or sagging of the underside of the chin is a common complaint of many people - both men and women complain about this problem, and some men compensate by growing a beard to hide this area. The skin begins to “sag” due to gravity as you age or due to your weight, and can become less elastic, causing the skin to droop or sag under the chin area. Other problem areas that respond well to this procedure include post partum abdominal laxity, general abdominal and flank laxity or fat, buttock, thigh, upper arm and back fullness.

Radiofrequency and infrared skin tightening treatments can be used to alleviate this problem. These treatments work by heating the collagen in the skin around the chin for a specific amount of time at a specific temperature, thereby changing the cellular structure, creating new collagen as well as repairing damaged collagen, which results in a firmer, tighter skin structure. Skin tightening usually takes 3-6 treatments, at 2 to 8 week intervals. Unfortunately, the results are not immediate, although some improvement is noticed within hours of the first treatment. Optimal results are usually seen after completion of the treatments, about 3-6 months and are usually quite dramatic when compared to pre treatment photos.b
